WolfQuest: Anniversary Edition is an ecological simulation set in the northern reaches of Yellowstone National Park. As a young gray wolf that has dispersed from its birth pack, players hunt alone, find a mate, establish a pack, and raise pups. Solo and cooperative multiplayer take place in open environments grounded in real wildlife research.

Players become a gray wolf living in the northern reaches of Yellowstone National Park. Having dispersed from the pack where it was born, the young wolf must hunt and explore to survive, find a mate, establish a pack, and raise a new family through the challenges of the wild. The journey begins as a lone dispersal wolf learning to hunt elk, mule deer, moose, and other prey. After becoming a capable hunter, the wolf can seek a mate, establish territory, and select a den. Players feed and play with their pups, defend them from rivals and predators, and teach them how to survive. As the family grows beyond the den, the pack adopts a nomadic life and the pups learn to hunt independently. The following spring, yearlings help raise the next litter, and some offspring eventually disperse to begin adventures of their own. This cycle continues until the player's wolf dies. The environments recreate northern Yellowstone's meadows, sagebrush grasslands, mountain forests, and ridges. Rival wolf packs, grizzly bears, cougars, and coyotes compete for territory and food. Dynamic day-and-night, weather, and seasonal systems shape the habitat. Wolves communicate through natural movements and vocalizations, while genetics simulate inherited eye color, body size, personality traits, and coat color. Herd animals such as elk display seasonal movement, autumn rutting contests, and antler shedding. An optional Ironwolf mode creates a more unforgiving survival challenge. Solo and cooperative multiplayer are supported. Players can raise pups together, defend territory from rival packs, or explore freely in a sandbox, with public and private cooperative-game options. Developed and published by eduweb, WolfQuest: Anniversary Edition is a complete remake of the original WolfQuest, redesigned from the ground up for modern computer hardware. Its systems draw on wildlife research, with leading wolf biologists serving as scientific advisers. The Saga expansion, released in December 2024, continues the pack's story across a wolf's full life.
