Where Winds Meet is an open-world action-adventure game set in the wuxia jianghu of Chinese martial arts. Players step into the world as a Drifter, growing stronger by practicing martial arts, forging equipment, and building mechanisms, and exploring regions such as Mojia Mountain (墨家山). The game weaves in Mohist mechanism arts: players can repair ancient mechanical facilities such as the water rails, and join server-wide cooperative efforts to rebuild the Cloud Ladder (云梯) leading to the Celestial Threshold (天阈). They can also explore areas such as the Netherworld Cave (幽冥洞) and Cloud Ridge (云岭) on their own, taking on world bosses like mechanical colossi. The game includes the Realm difficulty mode (境界) and the Jianghu Legacy side quest line (江湖传承), and uses ongoing version updates — major releases so far include 2.0 'Clouds Part to Reveal the Sun' (云开见日) and 2.1 'Revelations of Cloud and Mist' (云雾启示录), covering main story progression, new regions, and mechanics such as the Perpetual Mortise-and-Tenon Maze (永动榫卯迷宫). Monthly limited-time events also appear, such as the Ghost Month: Temple of Reflections (幽灵月·映照神殿), tied to Zhongyuan Festival folk customs, where players must follow folk taboos (not turning around, not responding to voices, and so on) to solve puzzles and complete rituals. The game is free-to-play with the premium currency Echo Beads, and includes gacha (Star Summon, 星辰召唤), the Homestead system, and a dispatch system.
