The Lord of the Rings™: War in the North™ - Legacy Edition is a co-op action RPG set in the Middle-earth of J.R.R. Tolkien, published by Aspyr Media. The story takes place at the same time as the Fellowship's journey to Mount Doom, when the North is threatened by Agandaûr, a dark Númenórean. Players must forge a new alliance to defend the North. The game offers three switchable characters: Eradan, a Ranger of the North skilled at ranged archery and stealth; Andriel, an Elf Loremaster who supports the party with healing and area magic; and Farin, an elite Dwarf who serves as a frontline warrior that soaks up damage. Up to two friends can join online or in local split-screen co-op. Core gameplay is three-player co-op combat across classic Middle-earth locations, including Rivendell, Lothlórien, the Lonely Mountain, and Mirkwood. Characters have a deep RPG progression system with skill trees, gear, and weapon collecting. Enemies include orcs, trolls, wargs, and barrow-wights, and players can call on the great eagle Beleram for aerial support. Along the way you interact with iconic characters such as Aragorn, Gandalf, and Elrond. The game contains bloody combat and mature storytelling, and is clearly labeled as suited to mature audiences. The Legacy Edition is a complete package that includes the original game and its additional content.
