Sons Of The Forest is an open-world horror survival simulator developed by Endnight Games Ltd and published by Newnight, released on Steam on February 22, 2024. Players are sent to a remote island on a search-and-rescue mission to find a missing billionaire, only to discover they are stranded in a hellish land overrun by mutated cannibal creatures. The game imposes no mandatory mission route, leaving full freedom of exploration — when to act, where to go, and how to survive are all up to you. The core gameplay spans multiple dimensions: fighting a range of mutated creatures (some mimicking humans, some supernatural) and defending yourself with weapons such as pistols, axes, and stun batons; a gathering and building system for splitting wood, lighting fires, felling timber, and constructing everything from simple log cabins to beachfront houses; and a four-season cycle in which salmon can be caught from streams in spring and summer, while winter demands stocking up on food in advance or facing threats from other creatures. The game supports solo survival or co-op for up to 8 players, who can share supplies, build fortifications together, and explore the island as a team. The game contains intense violence, blood and gore, horror imagery, and occasional nudity.
