Sid Meier’s Civilization VII is a mainline sequel in the turn-based strategy series, developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K. Players pair a historical leader with a civilization and develop an empire across three ages: Antiquity, Exploration, and the Modern Age. Each age has its own civilizations. At an age transition, the Time-Tested mode can retain the same civilization, while other modes allow it to evolve into a new one. Victory paths include Military domination, Cultural attraction of global visitors, Scientific leadership in the space race, Diplomatic election as world leader, and Expansionist control through territory. The May 2026 Test of Time update, version 1.4.0, redesigned the victory system and introduced Triumphs: dynamic objectives linked to Military, Culture, Science, Economy, Diplomacy, and Expansionism. Solo and multiplayer are supported on PC through Steam and Epic, PlayStation 5 and 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The game launched worldwide on February 10, 2025. Its historical setting portrays controversial leaders including Genghis Khan and Napoleon and includes war and conquest without glorifying warfare or promoting extremism.
