Rust is an open-world survival crafting game developed by the UK indie studio Facepunch Studios. Players wake up on a procedurally generated island with nothing but a rock and a torch. Wildlife, other survivors, and a harsh environment are all out to kill you. Players must gather resources, build shelter, craft tools and weapons, fight off threats, and try to survive as long as possible. Single-player and multiplayer are both supported. Players can ally, trade, or raid other players' bases and loot their supplies. Base building and raiding are the core systems, and a variety of vehicles — horses, cars, hot air balloons, helicopters, boats, trains, and more — let players get around the island. The game has a deep crafting tree covering tools, armor, weapons, power generation, and automation systems, and receives monthly content updates with new maps, biomes, vehicles, weapons, and seasonal events. Rust uses Easy Anti-Cheat. The developers disclose that the game contains nudity with mature themes, violence, and blood effects, and some adult content can be toggled off in the settings. The game launched in Early Access in 2013, fully released in 2018, and has received over 395 content updates to date.
