Onimusha: Way of the Sword is a brand-new entry in Capcom's Onimusha series and a true successor to the mainline games. It is set in Kyoto at the beginning of Japan's Edo period, where the historic capital has been transformed by miasma and the stages are filled with an eerie atmosphere. You play as Miyamoto Musashi, who wears the Oni Gauntlet. He arrives in Kyoto seeking to reach the pinnacle of swordsmanship, but on his path of training he encounters terrifying Genma from another world. The Oni Gauntlet can absorb the souls released by defeated enemies, producing different effects depending on the type of soul. A mysterious voice from the gauntlet guides Musashi forward. Powerful adversaries appear one after another, far beyond ordinary Genma, and deadly sword duels keep unfolding across Kyoto. Kyoto, led by Kiyomizu-dera, is dotted with shrines and temples that have grown strange and unpredictable under the miasma's corruption. The game supports 14 languages including Simplified Chinese, will be released on September 4, 2026, and is planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Windows, Steam, Epic Games Store, and Nintendo Switch 2.
