OCTOPATH TRAVELER II

About OCTOPATH TRAVELER II

The original OCTOPATH TRAVELER, released in 2018, surpassed three million units in combined physical and digital sales worldwide. This new RPG in the series brings a comprehensive upgrade to its signature HD-2D presentation, which blends pixel art with 3DCG environments.

OCTOPATH TRAVELER II is a turn-based RPG jointly developed by Square Enix and ACQUIRE Corp. A new sequel to the 2018 OCTOPATH TRAVELER, it uses HD-2D technology to combine retro pixel art with 3DCG environments, expanding on the distinctive visual style of the first game. The story unfolds in Solistia, a world divided by an ocean into eastern and western continents. It is an age of seafaring, with great ships crossing busy routes and steam technology driving new inventions. Light and darkness coexist: some celebrate flourishing industry and culture, while others suffer through war, disease, and poverty. Players choose one of eight travelers with different backgrounds, ambitions, and specialties as the protagonist of a personal journey. Each traveler has unique Path Actions whose effects change between day and night. These actions enable interactions such as fighting townspeople, obtaining items, or inviting companions to join the party. The series' Break and Boost battle system returns, while the day-and-night cycle adds more strategic and exploratory possibilities. Jobs and skills can be combined freely to create a customized party. Boats cross rivers, and a large sailing ship can carry the travelers throughout the world. Crossed Paths also lets pairs of travelers act together in shared stories. The game launched on February 24, 2023, for PC through Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
