Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is the latest entry in the Microsoft Flight Simulator series, developed by Asobo Studio and published by Xbox Game Studios. It takes place on a highly realistic digital twin of Earth, letting you fly more than 65 real aircraft (standard edition), from Cessna light aircraft to the Airbus A320neo and Boeing 747-8 wide-body airliners. The planet's surface is recreated using enhanced digital elevation maps, more than 500 three-dimensionally modeled cities, and photogrammetry covering over 100,000 square kilometers, combined with procedural generation that builds around 40,000 airports, 1.5 billion buildings, and nearly 3 trillion trees. The game includes a career mode: you pick a starting point anywhere in the world and gradually earn qualifications to unlock real aviation missions such as medical transport, long-haul cargo, aerial firefighting, and search and rescue, eventually growing into a pilot of large airliner passenger services. Challenge League mode lets you compete against other pilots, and there are also rally races, precision landings, low-altitude challenges, Red Bull aerobatic races, and Reno air races. In photo mode, you can fly to natural landscapes and landmark buildings around the world to complete unique photography challenges and record them in a travel album. The advanced physics system supports over 10,000 rigid body surfaces and can simulate aircraft of any shape; soft-body physics covers elements like cloth, rope, and hot air balloons. A new flight planning tool supports IFR and VFR layers, charts, fuel and payload planning, vertical profile planning, and ETOPS planning, and can run independently in the simulator, on mobile, or on the web. For the first time, you can also leave the aircraft and explore 27 detailed ecological regions featuring seasonal changes. The game is available on Windows 10/11 (Microsoft Store and Steam), Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Game Pass (Ultimate and PC), and the PlayStation 5/5 Pro version is currently available for pre-order.
