About METAL GEAR & METAL GEAR 2: Solid Snake

METAL GEAR & METAL GEAR 2: Solid Snake is a collection of classic stealth action games featuring the 1987 METAL GEAR and the 1990 METAL GEAR 2: Solid Snake, developed and published by KONAMI. Play as special forces operative Solid Snake as he infiltrates enemy military facilities on missions to destroy the ultimate weapon METAL GEAR.

This collection includes two games: METAL GEAR (1987) and METAL GEAR 2: Solid Snake (1990), both developed by KONAMI with Hideo Kojima as director. You play as special forces operative Solid Snake, infiltrating the military organization "Outer Heaven" led by Shadow Moses on missions such as destroying the ultimate weapon METAL GEAR. METAL GEAR uses a top-down perspective and emphasizes stealth and managing limited combat resources; you must avoid enemies or deal with them without fighting. The sequel METAL GEAR 2: Solid Snake expands the stealth systems and diversifies mission objectives. Both games laid the foundation for the tactical stealth genre and influenced many games that followed. The collection was released in October 2023 under the name METAL GEAR SOLID: MASTER COLLECTION Vol. 1 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam). It includes extras such as digital art books and original soundtracks. It is rated M (17+) by the ESRB, with content including violent scenes.
