Infection Free Zone is a post-apocalyptic survival strategy and simulation game developed by Jutsu Games and published by Games Operators, released in Early Access on Steam in April 2024. Its core feature is the use of real geographic data from OpenStreetMap: players can type in the name of any city or town in the world and download the corresponding map to play on. In the game's setting, an infection called the Mad Virus spreads at extreme speed. The infected are highly aggressive, fast, and strong, and society collapses within weeks: cities sit empty, and water, electricity, and food supplies stop. Players lead a group of survivors, choose a base of operations, and create a self-sufficient settlement by converting and adapting the buildings around them — building shelters, production facilities, farms, and power stations, and reinforcing defenses with walls and gates. Knowledge of a city's layout helps determine the best defensive positions: the locations of grocery stores, pharmacies, and gun shops all influence survival strategy. Exploring abandoned buildings carries risk, as infected may be lurking inside. Every night, large groups of infected may attack the settlement, and players must fend them off with melee weapons, ranged weapons, vehicles, walls, and lighting tools. Other survivor factions exist across different areas: some may be friendly and willing to trade, while others are hostile and may provoke conflict. The game currently supports Windows only.
