About Horizon Zero Dawn™ Remastered
Horizon Zero Dawn™ Remastered is a remaster of the action RPG developed by Guerrilla Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Play as Aloy, a young machine hunter exploring, fighting, and uncovering the mystery of her origins in a post-apocalyptic world ruled by machine creatures. It arrived on PS5 and PC on October 31, 2024.
Horizon Zero Dawn™ Remastered is a remaster of the 2017 original, developed by Guerrilla Games with the PC port handled by Nixxes Software. Set in the far future, the game takes place on an Earth ruled by giant machine creatures, where humans survive in tribes among the ruins of a fallen civilization. Players take on the role of Aloy, a young machine hunter exiled from her tribe, who uses weapons like bows and spears to hunt machines, explore an open world, and gradually uncover the truth about this mysterious world and her own origins. Core gameplay includes stealth takedowns, tactical combat, and the combined use of bows and traps. Players interact with different tribes, complete side quests, collect ancient relics, and move closer to an epic narrative about the end of human civilization and the fate of the world. The game includes the complete expansion The Frozen Wilds, which adds extra areas, skills, weapons, and machine creatures. The remaster overhauls the visuals: character models, animation, lighting, and textures reach a visual fidelity on par with the sequel, Horizon Forbidden West, and include more than 10 hours of re-recorded dialogue and motion capture. The PS5 version supports three graphics modes — 4K/30fps, 4K/60fps, and 4K/40fps — and the DualSense wireless controller provides adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. The PC version supports performance-enhancing technologies including NVIDIA DLSS 3, AMD FSR 3.1, and Intel XeSS. The game is a purely single-player experience and supports save transfer from the original PC version. Players who own the original game or its Complete Edition can pay $9.99 to upgrade to the remaster.
