Halloween: The Game is an asymmetric horror sandbox game set on Halloween night 1978. Developed by IllFonic and published by IllFonic Publishing and Gun Interactive, it is built with Unreal Engine 5 and officially launches on Steam on September 9, 2026, with an early playable version opening on September 5. Set on the eve of Halloween 1978, the game takes place in Haddonfield, a quiet suburban town whose residents are preparing for the holiday as evil quietly returns. Players choose between two roles: play as serial killer Michael Myers, putting on the mask to become the Masked Killer and hunting down innocent residents with shadows and stealth abilities; or fight as a hero of Haddonfield, working with up to three teammates in 1v4 asymmetric multiplayer to call for help, arm residents, contact the police, and achieve other goals in order to escape. The game includes a full single-player story mode, The Night He Came Home, presenting the events of the film narrative from Michael's perspective. The multiplayer mode emphasizes dynamic map mechanics, realistic NPC interactions, and combinations of player skills: hero players can arm themselves and NPCs with everyday items and weapons, persuade the townsfolk, and call the police for denser patrols, while Michael must use his abilities to avoid being detected and maintain the pressure of the hunt. The developers explicitly note that the game contains frequent graphic violence and gore, some nudity in the single-player mode, and interactive elements in which characters can consume beer and marijuana from the inventory. The game supports a Simplified Chinese interface and subtitles and uses kernel-level Easy anti-cheat, which must be removed manually. Minimum requirements are Windows 11 64-bit, 16 GB RAM, and a GTX 1660 or better GPU; recommended specs are 32 GB RAM and an RTX 3000/RX 7000 series GPU, with 45 GB of free space and an SSD/NVMe.
