Ghostwire: Tokyo is an action-adventure game developed by Tango Gameworks and published by Bethesda Softworks. It was released in March 2022 on PS5 and PC. The game is set in Tokyo, where a dangerous sorcerer causes the city's entire population to vanish in an instant, leaving the metropolis overrun by deadly supernatural forces. Players join forces with a powerful spirit entity named KK and set out on a path of vengeance, using upgradeable elemental abilities and spirit-hunting skills to fight the supernatural threats. Players can explore a Tokyo woven from ultramodern cityscapes, traditional temples, and narrow alleyways, and encounter the vengeful spirits and yokai that lurk in the streets. The game offers upgradeable elemental skill combos, including ranged attacks such as the Spirit Thread, as well as spectral abilities that let players scale the Tokyo skyline. Players can also collect items like soul fragments, complete side quests, and dig deeper into a city frozen at the moment of its disappearance to uncover a dark truth and save the city. The free update Spider's Thread, released in 2023, added a roguelite mode, new areas to explore, enemies, and combat skills.
