The game first launched in 2010, was completely rebuilt, and relaunched in 2013 as A Realm Reborn; it now has more than 30 million players worldwide. Players create and customize characters in the realm of Eorzea, choosing from multiple races and jobs. Jobs are divided into branches such as combat elites, magic mentors, gatherers, and crafters, and players can develop battle and production jobs at the same time. The game includes main scenario storytelling, dungeons, team raids, the Gold Saucer, and more, with chocobos and aerial combat on flying mounts as signature elements of the series. The game runs on a monthly subscription model and offers a free trial. It supports PC, Mac, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, with cross-platform save support between some platforms. The Chinese server is operated by Shengqu Games (formerly Shanda Games). Core gameplay includes: a single-player story experience driven by main scenario quests (MSQ); team challenges in four-player dungeons, eight-player raids, and 24-player large-scale raids; an economy built on crafting and gathering; PvP arenas and large-scale battles; and the various minigames of the Gold Saucer. The game keeps receiving expansions, with major versions including A Realm Reborn, Heavensward, Stormblood, Shadowbringers, Endwalker, and Dawntrail. The Shadowbringers expansion extends the story to the First World, while Endwalker introduces new jobs and a major overhaul of the battle system. The game offers Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese interfaces, and its cutscenes are voiced in Chinese.
