Factorio is a factory automation and construction game developed by Czech studio Wube Software. After a spacecraft crash, the player gathers resources on an alien planet, builds production lines, researches technology, and works toward constructing and launching a rocket. Early progress relies on manual resource collection. Conveyors, assemblers, furnaces, and other machines gradually turn production into an automated system. Research unlocks advanced processes including oil refining and nuclear weapons. Native creatures react aggressively to pollution and expansion, requiring defensive structures against their attacks. The main objective in solo or multiplayer is to construct and launch a rocket. A map editor and Lua scripting support custom scenarios, while an extensive mod ecosystem expands the game. Factorio entered Steam release in February 2016, reached Nintendo Switch in October 2022, and received the Space Age expansion in 2024.
