Echoes of Aincrad is an action RPG based on the world of Reki Kawahara's Sword Art Online light novels and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. Players are trapped in the floating castle of Aincrad within the full-dive MMORPG Sword Art Online, a death game where dying in the virtual world also means death in reality. Character creation and customization form a central part of the experience, covering appearance, body type, and combat style. The seamless real-time action system supports weapon types including one-handed arms and two-handed axes, each with a different feel in battle. Players grow stronger by leveling up, learning new Sword Skills, and improving weapons. They also build a bond with the system companion Iori while tackling the labyrinths on Aincrad's many floors. Towns, grasslands, and underground labyrinths can be explored as players complete requests, search for rare items and weapons, and confront powerful enemies. New areas and dangers are revealed as the story advances. In Death Game Mode, a character's death deletes the save file, creating a more demanding challenge for experienced players. The game includes mature-content descriptions involving blood, violence, references to alcohol, and language. It is scheduled for release on July 9, 2026, exclusively for PC through Steam. The IP copyright is ©2020 REKI KAWAHARA/KADOKAWA CORPORATION/SAO-P Project, and the game is published by Bandai Namco Entertainment.
