About Don't Drop The Cake

Don't Drop The Cake is a first-person horror adventure built around delivering a cake. Carry a wobbling cake through a world of alien monsters and deadly traps, balancing it with your mouse across multiple difficulty tiers and checkpoints as the mystery behind the cake unfolds.

Don't Drop The Cake is a first-person horror adventure game developed and published by Japanese indie developer Midoriyama, built around a single core mechanic: delivering a cake. You play a cake courier carrying a wobbling cake through a bizarre world full of alien monsters and dangerous traps. Every step makes the cake sway with your hand movements, and you have to keep it balanced with precise mouse control. Get startled by a jump scare or lose your cool in a crisis, and the cake starts shaking hard until it falls and shatters. The mechanic turns your nerves into gameplay: you can tell yourself you are not scared, but your trembling hands give you away. Levels mix different kinds of challenges, such as escaping monsters in pursuit, dodging obstacles that block your path, and getting out of a level before the timer runs out. On top of threats from every direction, you always have to watch the wobbling cake in your hands, so the game keeps testing your ability to make the right call in an instant while keeping the cake steady. Several mysteries build up along the way: why is this cake being delivered? Who is the recipient? And what exactly are the alien creatures wandering this world? The deeper you go, the more the protagonist's purpose and the truth hidden behind this strange world come to light, until the full story is revealed once you reach the end. The game saves at multiple checkpoints, so after a failure you can retry quickly from the nearest one instead of starting over. Difficulty comes in several tiers, and on the lowest tier the cake stays still when you do not touch the mouse, so even players who are not good at action games can enjoy the full story at their own pace. The game offers Simplified Chinese, English, and Japanese interfaces and subtitles, and the developer explicitly welcomes livestreams and video uploads.
