Doki Doki Literature Club Plus! is the paid enhanced version of the original Doki Doki Literature Club, released on Steam on June 30, 2021 for Windows and macOS. You play the male protagonist, who is invited to join the literature club by his childhood friend Sayori; the club also includes Natsuki, Yuri, and Monika. The gameplay follows visual novel conventions: you write poems and make dialogue choices to build a relationship with the character you are interested in, with a romance ending as the core goal. As the story progresses, however, the game gradually breaks the fourth wall and presents psychological horror elements, including self-harm, suicide implications, and sensitive content. The original release has been flagged as unsuitable for children and players with lower psychological resilience. The Plus version adds six side stories, more than 100 unlockable illustrations, 13 new music tracks (26 in total), upgrades the visuals to 1080p full HD, and includes a built-in music player.
