Cities: Skylines II is a city-building simulation released in 2023 by Finnish studio Colossal Order and a sequel to 2015’s Cities: Skylines. Acting as mayor, players begin with empty land and roads, then develop electricity, water, transport, healthcare, education, fire services, and the other infrastructure required for a functioning city. Decisions create linked effects across the economy and residents’ lives. Industrial growth must be balanced against environmental quality, while housing and commercial needs compete within the city budget. Seasonal changes and the day-night cycle create additional planning demands. Citizens follow individual life paths, with wealth and happiness responding to policy. Maps have different climates, requiring cities to grow amid pollution, weather changes, and seasonal conditions. High-resolution visuals aim for a detailed and realistic city-building experience. The central focus is peaceful urban planning and economic management, without violence or warfare. The game first launched for PC through Steam and is published worldwide by Paradox Interactive AB.
