Baldur's Gate 3 is a party-based role-playing game by Larian Studios, set in the Forgotten Realms and based on the fifth edition of Dungeons & Dragons. A mind flayer parasite places the protagonist at the center of a conflict over the Absolute. Turn-based combat, exploration, dialogue choices, and companion relationships shape how the story develops. Players can create a custom character or choose an Origin character, then adventure alone or in online co-op. The Windows version launched on August 3, 2023, followed by PlayStation 5 on September 6, macOS on September 22, and Xbox Series X|S in December 2023. Patch 8 launched on April 15, 2025. It added cross-play, Photo Mode, 12 new subclasses, and updates to the modding toolkit. The currently documented platforms are Windows, macOS, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
