ARC Raiders is a multiplayer extraction shooter developed and published by Swedish studio Embark Studios using Unreal Engine 5. It takes place on a near-future Earth devastated by a mysterious mechanical force called ARC. The resulting post-apocalyptic Rust Belt combines Italian historical ruins with the remains of space infrastructure. The surface is beautiful but dangerous, while the underground shelter of Speranza remains habitable. Players enter maps alone or in teams as Raiders. Weapons, blueprints, resources, and other supplies must be looted and successfully extracted before they can be kept. ARC machines roam with autonomous behavior, while human opponents may ambush others for their equipment. Every encounter therefore balances risk against reward. Crafting, skill trees, and the Raider Deck support longer-term progression. Activities include raids, seasonal Expeditions, seasonal Trials, limited events, and changing map conditions. Expeditions are time-limited progression events in which players build a caravan and register during a defined window. Trials provide persistent competitive content. The Riven Tides update adds the coastal Shattered Tides map, an airborne ARC enemy called the Turbine, and a beach treasure-hunt condition. The Frozen Trail expansion is scheduled for October 8, 2026, with a frozen mountain map at the edge of the Rust Belt, new ARC enemies, and an Outpost progression system. The game follows a live-service plan of two major updates each year plus routine patches, balance changes, and anti-cheat work. Cross-platform social features connect PC, PlayStation, and Xbox players. Character customization covers appearance and play style, with consequences attached to player decisions.
